Who's Playing

No. 3 Michigan State @ Purdue

Current Records: Michigan State 8-0; Purdue 5-3

What to Know

The Michigan State Spartans and the Purdue Boilermakers will face off in a Big Ten clash at 3:30 p.m. ET Nov. 6 at Ross-Ade Stadium. These two teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous games.

Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Spartans beat the Michigan Wolverines 37-33 last week. RB Kenneth Walker III was a one-man wrecking crew for MSU, rushing for five TDs and 197 yards on 23 carries. One of the most memorable plays of the matchup was Walker III's 58-yard touchdown rush in the fourth quarter. Not surprisingly, Walker III's sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.

Meanwhile, Purdue didn't have too much breathing room in their game with the Nebraska Cornhuskers last week, but they still walked away with a 28-23 win. No one had a standout game offensively for the Boilermakers, but they got scores from a handful of players including WR Jackson Anthrop, RB Zander Horvath, and WR Milton Wright.

Purdue's defense was a presence, as it collected four interceptions. LB Jalen Graham picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.

This next matchup is expected to be close, with MSU going off at just a 2.5-point favorite. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a four-game streak of ATS wins.

The wins brought MSU up to 8-0 and the Boilermakers to 5-3. A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: The Spartans are stumbling into the matchup with the 214th most passing yards allowed per game in the nation, having given up 286.1 on average. Purdue has experienced some struggles of their own as they are seventh worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with six on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
